STILL LIFE
Read MoreThe Morning Paper
A concept image of all the ingredients of needed to start the day.
This particular image was the one I settled on which was the third shoot and arrangement. Lot’s of fun and I learned a lot. Most often drapery, cloth, or a paper is used in many still life works to help draw in the eye and or to add interest. This is my first implementation using newspaper and I found it brought back memories of days gone past when looking for a job in the classified. In light of that, I also added teeth marks on the pencil. :)TheMorningPaperlanterncandleclockcoffe grindercoffeenewspaperpencil eye glassescoffe cupcupcoffee beansvasebooksdried flowerstimestill lifekeyscurtainswindow lightreflections
Southern Comfort
I named this southern comfort because I imagined the vase to be something I might see in the southern U.S. It has been broken at one time and repaired and handed down to us. Since the daylilies are in bloom I thought it would be a great time to immortalize them both. I used window light and black fabric to get this effect plus a little photoshop.

Drift Wood & Clematis
I have had this piece of driftwood in the garden for years with the idea of doing a still life. What better accompaniment than the spring flowers of Clematis.

Tambura Man
I’m musically challenged but I love this drone instrument from India. An amazing sound that can be easily recognised in the background of East Indian Ragas.

Tropical Teacup
A tea cup of flowers with a little Topaz Impressions, textures, and layers in photoshop. I wanted the feeling of sky and water for the background for a balance of warm and cool colors and to give a light presentation as a gift floating upon a cosmic sea! I often have fun mixing an artistic look with what appearts to be realistic to our eyes.

THE ATOMIZER
An atomizer and some flowers that are waiting to be brought back to life. I can just hear Gene Wilder in the movie “Frankenstein” exclaiming over and over “It’s Alive”. . . It’s Alive! :)

A Guest For Tea
A fun still life welcoming a guest for tea. There is much planning, arranging, and work setting up for getting the image in the mind’s eye, whether it’a a landscape, portrait, or still life composition. What I love about it is that it may be quite some time if ever, that our inspiration as photographers will be duplicated by a phone camera, or a pre-set button in a software program. Images by all passionate photographers and digital artists are truly inspiring to me.

A Day At The Beach
In putting some things together for a still life I ended up with shells, a basket, and some cloth. I was also aware of the negative space during this process. Once isolated, development on the objects began and then textures were introduced. With textures, I wanted to imitate the blue sea and a sky at sunset. The cloth added flow to the scene.

Summer Days
A still life romanticizing the days of summer.
HOW I CREATED THIS:
After creating as detailed an image possible I then use Topaz to do a cutout. After that the following software products listed below, are used in my workflow. The more experience I gain through the use of the various programs the better. The creative flow doesn’t like to be kept waiting. :) I also will work on a piece off and on for a few days. This gives me time to give a better analysis of the tweeks needed. I’m extremely critical of my work and will keep working until the magic is complete. But then, as Leo said, an art piece is never completed, only abandoned.
On the majority of my images I use:

Yellow Roses and Sea Shells
I had a lot of fun doing this Still Life and learned a lot as well. I find them very difficult and demanding and to me that is fun! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did in making it.

How To Grow Smaller Flowers
Being a gardener I thought I would have fun with a bit of humor. This is my first year growing Dahlias and I’m happy with the results. I planted dinner plate dahlias and they can get 10” and larger. The one pictured here is a only 7”.

Reflections Of Shakespeare
This is a busy time for me out in the flower garden planting and doing maintenance. We had a very cool and windy day so it gave me a chance to bring in some of the lilacs for a photo shoot. A heavenly fragrance! Oh, the working conditions! :)

An Old Fashioned Love Song
A romantic compostion dedicated to love. Love has never been out of style because it is the very fabric of creation. At least this is what I have experienced in my meditations.
I have tried to render this with a somewhat old fashioned look and yet present it with some detail and a little contrast.OldFashionedLoveSongsig05214156rosesvaseminiture rosepitchertexturereflectionsfloralromantic
